SouthRoads is looking for an inquisitive, commercially minded Aggregates Manager to help manage its aggregate resources across Southland and Otago.
This isn't about sitting behind a desk updating spreadsheets without questioning the results. When something doesn't look right, we need someone who will investigate, understand what has happened and help fix it.
The role
Based in Invercargill, you'll manage aggregate inventory, reporting and forward planning across quarries and operational sites throughout the region. Most of your time will be office based, working with company systems, telematics, Excel, reports, specifications and planning information. On average, you'll spend around one day each week visiting sites, inspecting stockpiles and gathering drone footage.
You'll be working alongside the Divisional Manager and Operational/Quarry Manager daily while also working closely with Contract Managers, landowners, councils, engineers and customers to keep information accurate and aggregate resources available where they are needed.
Your work will include:
- Managing stock levels, quality information and reporting across multiple sites
- Analysing data and investigating discrepancies
- Coordinating drone surveys of stockpiles and operational areas
- Supporting resource consents, access agreements and royalty arrangements
- Helping identify new sites and future business opportunities
- Maintaining environmental, health and safety and quality requirements
Drone experience would be useful, but it isn't essential. Training can be provided to gain your Part 101 & 102 certificates.
You'll need:
- Around five years' relevant operational, technical or coordination experience
- Strong Excel and general Microsoft Office skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- A practical, process-driven approach
- The confidence to question information and investigate inconsistencies
- Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills
- A full driver's licence
Experience with aggregate specifications, laboratory testing, inventory, drones, surveying, resource consents or quarry-management systems would be an advantage.
Who this would suit
You might come from quarrying, aggregates, civil construction, mining, forestry, materials testing, surveying or another land-based industry. You don't need to have managed a quarry. What matters is that you understand operational environments, can confidently manage detailed information and have the initiative to work things out without waiting to be directed at every step.
