However you found this ad South Roads is hiring an experienced Drainlayer/Pipelayer for our Oamaru civil crew, and we want to hear from you.

We're talking to drainlayers everywhere: Perth's mining sites, Australia's east coast, Auckland, Christchurch, and everywhere in between. If you can lay pipe properly and show up ready to work, this is for you.

The role

You'll be doing the real, hands-on work of civil pipe installation not just holding a cert, but knowing how to get it right on site:

  • Installing stormwater, wastewater, and water reticulation pipework on civil and subdivision projects
  • Trenching, laying, jointing, and backfilling to spec and to grade
  • Reading and working from civil plans and levels
  • Working alongside our machine operators and civil crew to keep projects moving
  • Keeping the job site safe, tidy, and compliant

What you'll need

  • New Zealand Certificate in Drainlaying/Pipelaying (or working towards one) we'll also consider strong candidates from equivalent Australian trade backgrounds
  • Real, hands-on experience installing pipe this is the non-negotiable. We need someone who's actually done the work, not just studied it
  • A current NZ driver's licence (Wheels/Class 2 an advantage)
  • Site Safe / relevant H&S tickets, or willingness to get them
  • A solid work ethic and the ability to work well in a small crew
