Fleet Compliance Manager
Love systems? Great with people? This role needs both.
If you're someone who thrives on keeping things organised, loves working with people and gets genuine satisfaction from helping others succeed, we'd love to hear from you.
We're looking for a proactive, relationship-focused Fleet Compliance Manager to join our high-performing SouthRoads team. This is a role where you'll have real ownership from day one, working alongside managers across the business to ensure our people, vehicles and systems remain safe, compliant and operating at their best.
You don't need previous fleet compliance experience. We'll provide the training and support. What matters most is your ability to use systems confidently, follow processes, build trusted relationships and positively influence others.
About SouthRoads
SouthRoads is part of the HW Richardson Group, a proudly family-owned Southland business with more than 2,000 people across 100+ sites throughout New Zealand and Australia.
We're known for our down-to-earth culture, long-term thinking and investing in our people. We work together, support each other and believe our success comes from having great people who genuinely care about doing a good job.
About the Role
You'll become the trusted business partner for our fleet compliance systems, working alongside managers to help them understand their responsibilities, stay ahead of compliance requirements and continually improve the way we operate.
You'll spend your time analysing information, identifying risks, solving problems and supporting managers to achieve the best outcomes, not by policing compliance, but by educating, coaching and building strong working relationships.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading fleet compliance across servicing, WOFs, COFs, RUCs and vehicle safety requirements.
- Managing telematics systems, driver events, logbooks and compliance reporting.
- Developing meaningful fleet insights, driver scorecards and utilisation reporting.
- Supporting managers to improve driver performance and minimise business risk.
- Managing certification, calibration and compliance programmes.
- Leading projects that improve business systems, compliance and operational performance.
- Supporting environmental initiatives and strategies that help reduce our fleet's carbon footprint.
About You
You're someone people naturally turn to for advice because you're approachable, practical and genuinely enjoy helping others.
You'll also bring:
- Exceptional attention to detail and a passion for getting things right.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Confidence using systems, analysing information and following established processes.
- The ability to build relationships with people from all backgrounds.
- Excellent communication skills and the confidence to have respectful but honest conversations.
- A calm, solutions-focused approach to problem solving.
- A genuine desire to educate, coach and support others rather than simply enforce rules.
- A continuous improvement mindset and a willingness to challenge the status quo.
Whether your background is in compliance, health and safety, quality assurance, transport, logistics, operations or another process-driven environment, we'd love to hear from you.
Why Join SouthRoads?
This is an opportunity to join a successful, stable business where you'll be trusted to make a real impact.
You'll enjoy:
- A supportive and collaborative team environment.
- Genuine ownership and autonomy.
- Ongoing training and development.
- The opportunity to build your expertise in fleet compliance.
- A role where your ideas and continuous improvement mindset are valued.
- Career opportunities within one of New Zealand's largest privately owned businesses.
If you're looking for a role where you can combine your love of systems, attention to detail and people skills to make a real difference, we'd love to hear from you.
