SouthRoads is a specialist civil construction and maintenance company involved in the development of commercial and residential sites, road maintenance and construction, bridging, and other general contracting activities.

A subsidiary of the HW Richardson Group of companies with operations based in Invercargill, Winton, Balclutha, Mosgiel, Lumsden, Cromwell and Oamaru, SouthRoads undertake works throughout the lower South Island for a variety of clients, employing over 300 staff, utilising over 650 items of specialist construction equipment.

We have a great opportunity based in our Invercargill depot, to be part of our Otago / Southland Regional Health and Safety and Training Team.

You will play a critical role in providing ongoing training, advice, support and coaching to all employees, aligning health & safety and wellbeing with engagement. You will be a master juggler, able to spin multiple plates at once and you will enjoy a role where no two days are the same.

Ideally, you will:

• Have had previous experience in the civil contracting industry.
• Have supervision and management experience with employees.
• Have operational experience in Training and Health & Safety operations and a working knowledge of the appropriate Acts.
• Be computer literate.
• Be able to produce neat tidy work, within a team environment or working without supervision.
• Be tidy, energetic and enthusiastic, and able to communicate well with all stakeholders.
• Ideally have Class 1, 2 and 4 licences with W, T and R endorsements.

You will induct and train staff on standard procedure and competence to support our health and safety and quality culture and as part of a team be responsible for the effective coordination, administration, and continuous improvement of Health, Safety, and Training systems across the business, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements, company policies, and operational needs while supporting managers, staff, and subcontractors.
