SouthRoads is a specialist civil construction and maintenance company involved in the development of commercial and residential sites, road, rail, bridge and 3 Waters maintenance and construction, aggregate supply and production, drilling and piling along with other general contracting activities. A subsidiary of the HW Richardson Group of companies, SouthRoads undertakes works throughout the lower South Island for a variety of clients, employing over 350 staff, utilizing over 650 items of specialist construction equipment.
SouthRoads is looking for an enthusiastic and ambitious Maintenance Operations Manager to join the SouthRoads Balclutha team on a permanent, full-time basis.
SouthRoads is the contractor of choice for the Clutha District Council, holding the CDC Road Network Maintenance Contract for the management and maintenance of roads, paths and associated assets within the Council's jurisdiction. We require a Maintenance Operations Manager to co-ordinate our projects within the Contract.
In this key role, your primary responsibility will be to ensure all work is completed to the high standard that SouthRoads is known for, and all targets (productivity, quality and safety) are met. You will need to have a knowledge of road network maintenance including experience with on-site management and supervision of crews, planning, organizing, directing and controlling the activities and operations of all road maintenance works - drainage maintenance, slips, sealed and unsealed dugouts, grading, sealing, kerb and channels etc. Using specialized asset and work management systems you will also carry out quality inspections, data collection and assist with claiming of work.
You will be responsible for forward planning, programming and organising your people and plant to ensure the optimal delivery of tasked, cyclic maintenance works and minor improvement projects. You will also need to fluidly co-ordinate your teams' responses to unplanned and emergency events and be able to incorporate these events into the existing programme.
You will
- have a proven track record in the field, with experience in maintenance of all aspects of roads and related assets
- have proven experience in staff management and development
- have previous contracting and management experience
- have excellent time management and communication skills
- have previous experience with RAMM or a similar asset and work management system
- be energetic and enthusiastic
- be customer focused
