The Opportunity:

Reporting to the HWR CEO, and a member of HWR's Executive Leadership Team (ELT), your role as General Manager - Rural Transport will be based in Invercargill and will provide overarching leadership of HWR's Joint Venture companies. The role will drive innovation in our transport operations - delivering benefits in safety, efficiency and in delivering value creating solutions for our customers. You will strive to ensure our transport outcomes are safe and efficient to realise sustainable returns for shareholders.

The Skills & Experience

You will be industry experienced, down to earth, and an innovative transport leader who can authentically connect and build great relationships within the ELT, the Joint Venture Partners and the wider business. You must also have a great sense of humour, be comfortable with a fast-paced and changing environment, and be a team player.

Your ability to connect and influence is critical with internal and external stakeholders. You will have a proven track record of commercial success and have expertise of developing and mentoring a team. A sound practical knowledge of New Zealand transport regulations is essential.

Also required are practical knowledge of strategic planning, financial management, operational leadership and business development including demonstrated experience applying innovation to improve business operations. A get shit done attitude is a must.

Ability to work legally within NZ and have a class 1 Driver's license is also essential.

Regular travel will be part of the job and the successful candidate can expect to be spending plenty of time in the beautiful regions of Southland and Otago especially where our joint venture partners are based.
