SouthRoads are a specialist civil construction and maintenance company involved in the development of commercial and residential sites, three waters and drainage construction, road maintenance and construction, bridging, and other general contracting activities. A subsidiary of the HW Richardson Group of companies, SouthRoads undertake works throughout the lower South Island for a variety of clients, employing over four hundred staff, utilising over 650 items of specialist construction equipment.

SouthRoads is looking for an enthusiastic and ambitious Contract Manager to work with our Invercargill Construction/Siteworks Division.

In this key role you will be responsible for forward planning, programming, and organising your people and plant to ensure projects are completed in an efficient and safe manner. You will also lead or work on tender submissions and quotations. With a focus on quality, you will also be responsible for delivering the high standard of customer service that SouthRoads is known for. You will be assisting the Divisional Manager in the management and delivery of projects across Southland.

You will be confident in carrying out Management of Works and Contracts including:

  • Work in a team of professionals, overseeing day-to-day operations and ensuring projects run smoothly.
  • Setting and communicating production targets
  • Develop construction methodologies, execute works, and track costs to deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Maintain a safe and tidy worksite and ensure adherence to environmental and quality standards.
  • To succeed in this role, you will be a people-person with a "roll-your-sleeves-up-and-get-it-done" attitude to your work. You will be approachable, have excellent time management skills and be well-presented in all aspects.

You will need effective communication skills - not only to lead your team but also for client liaison. You will be confident in directing a team, identifying, and developing potential and ensuring that our site safety standards are followed. You may have a trade background or a tertiary qualification in engineering.

Driven, committed and diligent, you have strong time management skills and enjoy working as part of a team. You are passionate about delivering remarkable results and comfortably communicate with other managers and field staff to deliver on time and budget.
