Calling all Event superstars! Do you dream of creating unforgettable experiences that leave people raving? Bill Richardson Transport World has your dream job!

Bill Richardson Transport World is home to a variety of businesses, all working together to turn Invercargill into a must-see destination. We offer everything from weddings to massive conferences, and we guarantee an exciting and adventurous role where you'll always have fun.

But that's not all! We offer a pretty sweet package too:

  • A competitive salary of $70,000 to $80,000 based on your skills and experience - you deserve it!
  • Employee discounts and benefits - to help you enjoy life outside of work.
  • Fully subsidised health insurance after 12 months of service - because your well-being matters.
  • Opportunities for professional growth and development - we want to see you succeed!
  • A dynamic and supportive work environment - you'll be part of a close-knit team that's always there to help.

In this role, you'll be the Head of Events at Transport World. That means you'll lead and manage our Events Team, handling all the operational details for our diverse calendar of events. Your focus will be on creating engaging, creative, and professional events that blow attendees away and showcase the best of Transport World.

Here's a closer look at what you'll be doing:

  • You'll collaborate with clients to understand their event needs and goals. Then, you'll develop detailed event plans, timelines, and schedules to make sure everything runs smoothly.
  • From catering to equipment setup and technical support, you'll be the mastermind behind the scenes, making sure all the logistical pieces fall into place.
  • Overseeing the setup and teardown of event spaces is on your plate. You'll ensure all areas are prepped to the highest standard, ready to impress every guest.
  • Negotiating with suppliers to get the best value for goods and services is key. You'll manage contracts, deliveries, and on-site support from vendors to make sure everything goes according to plan.
  • You'll lead a team of event coordinators. You'll help them build their skills and become event superstars themselves!
  • Keeping an eye on the prize (and the budget) is important. You'll provide insights and recommendations for the annual events budget to the General Manager, making sure everything is cost-effective without compromising quality.
  • There's always room for more epic events! You'll work with the sales department to identify and develop new sales opportunities for venue hire and commercial events at Transport World.
  • Safety first! You'll make sure all events comply with health and safety regulations by conducting risk assessments and implementing necessary measures.
  • Building strong relationships with clients is key. You'll address any concerns promptly and ensure their satisfaction throughout the entire event process.
  • Once the confetti settles, you'll conduct post-event evaluations to gather feedback and identify areas for improvement. That way, the next event is even better!

To be the Event Hero Transport World needs, you'll have these skills:

  • Ideally, 3 years of experience in event planning, preferably in a similar operational role.
  • Strong organisational and multitasking skills - because you'll be juggling a lot of moving parts!
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities - you'll be working with clients, vendors, and your team, so clear communication is essential.
  • Proficiency in event management software and tools - gotta speak the tech language!
  • The ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing circumstances - because things don't always go according to plan, and you'll need to be able to roll with the punches.
  • A proactive and problem-solving mindset - you'll be the go-to person for fixing any event snags that come up.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality events - every detail matters when you're creating unforgettable experiences.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required - some events take place outside of regular business hours.
  • The right to work in New Zealand at the time of application.

Previous experience in Event Management is not necessary, but a flair for Event Planning and a true passion to make each event magical is! We can give you the tools to lead, you bring the rest. If you've been thinking about taking a step in your career, this is your sign.
