HWR is a family-owned business proudly based in Southland and operating throughout New Zealand and Australia. The company currently operates in Ready Mixed Concrete, Transport, Fuel Distribution, Lubricants, Quarrying, Waste and Contracting sectors.

As an Accountant, you'll play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records, analyzing data and providing strategic insights. This role is primarily focused on the Group Head Office and Innovation Divisions.

Responsibilities include:

• Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze monthly management accounts and annual financial statements; ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
• Budgeting and Forecasting: Collaborate with management to create budgets, track performance, and provide recommendations.
• Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.
• Client Interaction: Build strong relationships with respective Managers and Administrators.
• Tax Compliance: Preparation and filing of GST, FBT and Income Tax returns, also preparation and management of Research and Development tax credits.

This position is integral to our business; we need a motivated self-starter who has:

• High level of accuracy and efficiency.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in accounting or related roles
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Tax compliance experience
