Incident Response Manager - 7 Days On/ 7 Days Off Roster

Highway South has an exciting opportunity for an Incident Response Manager to join our team - working a unique 7 days on, 7 days off roster.

About the role:

In this dynamic role, you'll respond to highway incidents across the region - including vehicle crashes, flooding, and debris on the road. Whether you're attending in person or coordinating the response, your focus will be on public safety, efficient response, and exceptional service.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and/or attending incident sites
  • Coordinating larger-scale callouts when needed
  • Liaising with internal teams and external stakeholders such as NZTA, Police, local councils, and emergency services
  • Providing timely and accurate communication and support to the Traffic Operations Centre

You'll be on-call:

  • 5:00pm-7:00am on weekdays, and
  • 24/7 over your rostered weekend

About You:

We're looking for someone who thrives in challenging, high-pressure situations and brings a calm, decisive approach to incident management.

You will be:

  • Reliable, mature, and able to stay composed under pressure
  • Quick-thinking and solution-oriented
  • A confident communicator and collaborator
  • Someone who values your seven days off, but brings full commitment and focus to your seven days on

What you'll need:

  • A full Class 1 driver's licence
  • A Class 2 licence (preferred but not essential)
  • CIMS training (advantageous but not essential)
